Learning is the primary focus at the College and as a co-educational community our teachers confidently embrace the uniqueness of each student, actively seeking to develop the special gifts that each student has by tailoring learning to their needs.
The College provides opportunities for creative problem solving, critical thinking and instilling a love of lifelong learning.
Mater Maria is a vibrant, nurturing community, providing creative, academic and sport loving students with a diverse program of knowledge and skills to maximise their individual achievement and provide them with the opportunity to flourish beyond school.
The facilities are modern and technologically equipped to offer engaging and creative ways for collaborating, communicating and delivering the curriculum. The site is wirelessly networked to service their ‘Bring Your Own Device’ program.
The College has indoor and outdoor agile learning spaces, new administration and staff facilities, an easily accessible student welfare hub, a new café style canteen and the old parts of the school have been reconfigured into 6 new classrooms, a new junior kitchen, a purpose-built STEM lab that thrives with over 1,000 students each receiving a holistic Catholic education.
It also has specialised learning spaces for electronics, digital learning, drama, fitness, hospitality, languages, music, science, timber, textiles and visual arts.
Students have the benefit of performing and presenting in the Byrne Theatre auditorium and the Marana Complex, which is an impressive gymnasium and gathering space for College events.
In the open air, the Mater Maria Oval, covered outdoor court and cricket nets provide training grounds and pitches for a number of Mater Maria's sporting teams.
Our curriculum is enriched by a diverse range of opportunities, to allow our students to follow their individual interests and share their talents in a more challenging and fulfilling way. Students have the opportunity to be involved in:

- Faith formation events e.g. World Youth Day and Australian Catholic Youth Festivals
- An overseas immersion tour as well as sporting and cultural tours
- Sport – a wide variety of representative sports as well as fitness training

The College encourages its students to value and respect themselves, build positive relationships and contribute to the welcoming feel that the College is renowned for. At Mater Maria, the inclusive nature of its co-educational setting provides a wide range of natural opportunities for building positive and healthy relationships between girls and boys needed for life after school.
Unique to Mater Maria is a pastoral program for Year 7 students designed to enhance the transition to secondary school. Within the curriculum subject of Transition Skills, Year 7 students participate in Peer Counselling with Year 11 student leaders during Term 1. During the rest of the year, the class teacher delivers a program designed to equip students with skills necessary for the navigation of Year 7 such as conflict resolution, problem solving, study skills for high school and cybersafety.

Mater Maria Catholic College Celebrates Outstanding HSC Results
Mater Maria Catholic College is proud to announce its exceptional HSC results for 2024.
This year, 20% of eligible students achieved an ATAR above 90, with Pacha Saidi becoming the dux of the school with an impressive ATAR of 99.6. Pacha also scored 100% in Beginners French and excelled in Advanced English. Mackenzie Wolfe topped the State in Studies of Religion I, and Taylah Preston joined Pacha on the all-rounders list.
Sixty-eight students were listed as Distinguished Achievers, with 48% of results in the top two bands and over 84% in the top three bands. Notable subject performances included Industrial Technology, Earth and Environmental Science, Music, Advanced English and Studies of Religion.

Guided by Faith, Led with Compassion: Mr Anthony Mahoney Joins Mater Maria
We are delighted to welcome
Mr Anthony Mahoney as the new Principal of Mater Maria Catholic College. With extensive experience in Catholic education, Mr Mahoney is committed to ensuring that all students are valued and encouraged to succeed, whatever their individual needs.
Most recently, Mr Mahoney served as a Strategy Lead for Catholic Schools Broken Bay and has a proven track record in Acting Principal and System Leadership roles. Known for his calm, thoughtful, and pastoral approach, he has earned the respect and admiration of colleagues, students, and families alike.
At Mater Maria, Mr Mahoney leads a dedicated team of educators, focused on providing authentic, professional Catholic education delivered with care and compassion. His leadership reflects and strengthens the College’s foundational values of Community, Hospitality, Justice, Spirituality, and Stewardship - values deeply woven into the fabric of our Catholic faith.
The College prides itself on maintaining an excellent reputation within the local and broader community.
